Massage Therapy Benefits

___

Massage Therapy can contribute to a person's lifestyle and improve health. Some of the benefits that can come from massage therapy are to: promote tissue health because it brings blood to the area, reduce/control pain, improve flexibility and performance, ease anxiety and provide a sense of well-being. Massage Therapy can reduce mental stress by producing an alert yet relaxed mind. You can also speed injury recovery, for example from whiplash or carpel tunnel syndrome, and even prevent injuries with Massage Therapy. Adding massage therapy to a balanced holistic health plan gives you the power to recover, revive and rejuvenate your body.

Craniosacral Therapy

___

A typical hour-long Craniosacral Therapy session takes place in a quiet, private setting. You remain fully clothed as you relax on a comfortable, padded table. Your therapist begins by gently touching various parts of your body to monitor the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system. Craniosacral Therapy releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole body health and performance.

Few body structures have more influence over your health and well-being than your central nervous system. Furthermore, few body systems have more impact on your central nervous system than the craniosacral system - the soft tissues and fluid that protect your brain and spinal cord.

Every day you endure stresses and strains and your body absorbs them. However, your body can only handle so much tension before the tissues begin to tighten and potentially affect the brain and spinal cord. Craniosacral Therapy releases those tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self-correct.

By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, Craniosacral Therapy, sometimes called cranial sacral therapy, naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease and enhances your health and well-being. Noonan MLD & Massage Therapy's therapist, Patrick Noonan, LMT, is certified, by the Upledger Institute International, in Craniosacral Therapy.

Medical Oncology Massage Therapy

___

Medical Oncology Massage Therapy modifies existing techniques to enable the therapist to work safely with complications of cancer and cancer treatment. Oncology massage therapy trained therapists meet clients where they are with their cancer. Therapists apply a highly individualized massage treatment to comfort, nurture and support clients. Anyone who has received cancer treatment -- those in active treatment, those in recovery and those in survivorship -- may benefit from an oncology massage therapy.

Personal goals when receiving oncology massage therapy can include the desire for a respite -- a relaxing pleasurable experience in the midst of everything that is going on. Other goals may be to relieve nausea or other symptoms such as pain and peripheral neuropathy.

A common complication after surgery for breast and ovarian cancer is edema, said Dr. Julie Gralow, a professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Washington and Director of Breast Medical Oncology at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr. Gralow said, “Lymphedema is basically the backup of lymph fluid frequently caused by scarring and swelling in the area. Massage Therapy helps move the fluid through the whole lymph system.” Noonan MLD & Massage Therapy's therapist, Patrick Noonan, LMT, is certified, by the National Academy of Medical Massage, in Medical Massage for the Oncology Patient.

Manual Lymph Drainage

___

A vital system of lymphatic vessels are one of the main elimination channels in the body. The Lymphatic System clears toxins, unwanted proteins and waste that cannot be removed by any other means. The system helps to transport lymphocytes and hormones throughout the body, filters harmful substances and bacterial infection, maintains the balance of fluids in the body’s tissues and recovers substances that have escaped into the body. This network of delicate vessels and lymph nodes is the primary structure of the Immune System. The lymph nodes act as check points along the pathways of the vessels filtering the fluid (called lymph) and serve as the home for lymphocytes -- little Pac Man-like cells -- that attack and destroy foreign bacteria, viruses and abnormal cells, such as cancer cells.

Manual Lymph Drainage's benefit of filtering the vessels' fluids helps reduce swelling, ease discomfort and promote healing/recovery while restoring healthy skin contour and smoothness from such surgical procedures as: Plastic Surgery, 360 Liposuction, SmartLipo, Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck), C-Section, Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), Breast Augmentation,Breast Lift, Facelift, Necklift, Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and more.

When the Lymphatic System is sluggish or blocked -- say after surgery or injury and/or Lipedema (buildup of adipose tissue/fat) and Lymphedema (excess fluid collects in tissues) -- clients may incur swelling, fat deposit/pockets, fibrosis, feeling tired, or be more susceptible to colds and infections. When the Lymphatic System works well, clients feel healthy and have a strong defense against illness. Noonan MLD & Massage Therapy's therapist, Patrick Noonan, LMT, is certified for almost a decade on Dr. Emil Vodder’s Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) method.
